Most athletes don't turn down scholarships, but Rhonda Rajsich's decision to turn pro turned out to be the right one for the #1 player on Womens Professional Racquetball Tour. Rajsich opted for on-the-job training instead of going to college and pursuing a chance to play professional basketball, but personally and professionally it has been nothing but sweet success. She has become well-known and a popular crowd favorite among the elite players.
Life is sweet and with her new newly signed sponsor (Ektelon), the schedule is full right now for the 5-foot-10, Stephen F. Austin basketball standout. Rajsich looks like she is from Southern California with the blonde streaked hair, the amiable grin and the endearingly unfiltered view of life. Rajsich is a consensus pick to be -- literally -- the next great womens player, but that expectation seems to ride lightly on her shoulders.
Rajsich turned pro in 2000 and climbed into the top 10 within a few months. She is currently ranked #1 in the Women's Professional Racquetball Organization.
Her best season yet may have been the 03-04 season as Rajsich won the US OPEN and National Singles Championships.
Most recently Rajsich has just turned in two more championship wins on the WPRO Tour by winning the Super Bowl Open in Stocton CA and the Racquet For The Cure in Denver, CO.
Rajsich also conducts demo's and clinic events at all WPRO stops as well as other events worldwide, including her hometown of Phoenix, AZ. Rajsich also actively plays outdoor racquetball on the WOR Tour.
