USA Racquetball

The Women's Committee mission is to strengthen USA Racquetball through increasing the number of women playing racquetball at the state, regional and national levels. Throughout the year, the Committee analyzes key aspects of racquetball for women, develops strategies to increase participation, plans and promotes activities and functions for women, supports charitable causes like Racquet for the Cure, and provides an avenue for women to express their concerns to USA Racquetball.

This year's Women's Senior National Singles were held in Gaithersburg, Maryland. There were approximately 70 Women in Attendance. The tournament started on Friday and ended on Sunday. There were Open age group divisions offered as well as skill age group. The format is round robin with Playoffs held on Saturday and Sunday. There were many women who attended this event for the first time and were extremely impressed.

Besides plenty of racquetball, the hospitality was unlimited. Kerri Wachtel held a great clinic. The souvenier jackets given to each participant was the icing on the cake. The banquet was the culmination of a beautiful weekend. This tournament is usually held the second or third week in January. Next Year's event will be held in Colorado.

Committee members include (l-r above): Malia Bailey, Cheryl Kirk, Lorraine Galloway (chair);  Cheryl Kirk recently became President of the USAR Board of Directors, marking the first time in USAR history that a woman has headed the organization. Congratulations!
